Morgan Lees første succes som vinmager var dette blend af Syrah fra otte forskellige marker, som nu er på banen i ny årgang. Vildgæret og med 30% hele klaser er det en håndlavet vin med tæt, mørk frugt, pomeransskal, rosmarin og pancetta. Lag på lag af blødt fløjl. Smukt.
Two Vintners er indiskutabelt en af de bedste producenter i Washington State, der som bekendt ligger helt oppe i det nordvestlige hjørne af USA – lige ved Seattle. Det store tema for den nyskabende producent er, at afprøve nye vinstile og nye druesorter. Og det med stor succes.
Two Vintners blev grundlagt i 2007 af den unge winemaker Morgan Lee og ejerne David og Cindy Lawson. På dét tidspunkt var druer såsom Syrah og Merlot udstødte i det meste af den amerikanske vinindustri. Dog var de 3 grundlæggere ikke i tvivl om, at netop de druer kunne resultere i noget af det bedste vin i hele staten. Skruer man tidsmaskinen frem til nutiden, har de da også ramt hovedet på sømmet! Vinene har scoret 94 point fra Robert Parker, 95 point fra Wine Spectator og fået en imponerende flot 31. plads på Wine Enthusiasts ”Best of the year” liste i 2017.

91 points Wine EnthusiastThis is a pan-Washington Syrah, with fruit coming from Olsen, Pepper Bridge, Discovery, Dineen, Stone Tree, Boushey and Stoney Vine vineyards. It’s a bit closed up on first pour, with notes of spice, dried herb, dark fruit, orange peel and whiffs of smoked meat. The palate is seamless in feel, gliding along with fruit and savory flavors that persist on the lengthy finish. It brings a very pleasing understated quality—a rare find at this price point.
90 points Robert ParkerWith its aromas and flavors of black fruits, grilled meats and cracked pepper, the medium-bodied and keenly priced 2015 Syrah certainly offers up some character for its modest tariff. Drink this chewy, somewhat rustic wine over the next handful of years.
90 points Vinous(there’s “probably” 1% co-fermented Roussanne in this, according to assistant winemaker Graham Whye; this is the winery’s largest bottling, at 700 cases): Bright ruby-red. Aromas of blueberry, licorice, fresh peach and plum. Offers a fine-grained texture and a penetrating floral/herbal quality to its intense dark berry and spice flavors.
